Direct answer: You can choose between Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulty in How to Fish. Difficulty changes creature health and damage, and the host can change the setting before starting or while a session is already running.
All game difficulties
| Mode | Creature health | Creature damage |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | -25% | -50% |
| Normal | Default value | Default value |
| Hard | +25% | +25% |
The modifiers apply to all creatures, not only bosses. Quests, weapons, skins, and general gear progression do not change with the selected difficulty. Achievements can still be earned on any difficulty.
How to change difficulty
Set difficulty from the main menu
- Select Host Game from the main menu.
- Choose Easy, Normal, or Hard before starting the session.
When starting a new game, only the host can set the difficulty.
Change difficulty during a session
- Press Esc to open the pause menu.
- Select Server Settings.
- Change Difficulty of Current Session to the mode you want.
Changing the setting in the middle of a session changes creature scaling. It does not reset quests or replace the group's current gear progression.
Which mode should you choose?
- Choose Easy when learning boss patterns, playing with a new group, or reducing incoming creature damage.
- Choose Normal for the original default balance.
- Choose Hard when the group wants tougher creatures without changing quests or equipment progression.
